An excellent day, tail wind to help the riders along! Following a fantastic dinner last night at the Ayr Travellers Motel, the boys were well fuelled for their last day on the road…. early start, 6.30am we met with the Burdekin Shire Chamber Of Commerce at Ayr McDonald’s, with Catriona Noble in attendance to thank the Shire for their support. The women in business in the area were very keen to speak with Catriona and learn all they could about being successful business women… thank you Catriona for your support of the boys riding and sharing your passion for RMHC. On the road again, 25km rest stops and into Ronald McDonald House Townsville… one more school visit to go today as well.
In 2008 a team of McDonald's owner operators and McDonald's corporate staff joined forces to create a Queensland Charity Bike Ride to raise funds for Ronald McDonald houses in Queensland (fondly referred to as the 'Ride For Sick Kids').
This group set out from Gympie and traveled 500km down to the Gold Coast and back to Brisbane in August.
Through the amazing support of business partners and local community, what started out as a goal to raise $50,000 has ended in $300,000 being raised in 2 years of rides.

Day Five – Ayr to Townsville
August 5th, 2011Day Four – Bowen to Ayr
August 4th, 2011Well the day started out overcast, raining and windy… much to our concern at 6am.. but by 7am clearer and looking good for the day, despite being windy. Proved a tail wind for much of the way which helped the guys travel well, 116 kms today! Biggest trip of the week. Uneventful which was fantastic, few mechanicals, and plenty of ‘re-fuels’ thanks to Ann and her super ute! Arrived to a fantastic welcome by Ayr State School and yet another Silly Sox Day. Thank you Ayr for your wonderful hospitality!
